

Patricia Alice (Mazakas) Van Strien. Born March 17, 1939 in Pennsylvania. Died February 23, 2024 in Mission Viejo, CA. She was 84 years young. Pat was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to everyone she met. She was a woman of great strength and kindness. Pat, grew up in Pennsylvania. She attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing. After graduation, in 1965, she made the trek to Sunny California with her two girlfriends, Sandy and Janette. They settled in Santa Monica, the magical meeting place of her future husband, David Van Strien. The two married April 30, 1966. Soon after, their 4 children came into the world making their family complete. Pat was a career Registered Nurse, working for several hospitals in Southern California during her career. After the birth of her 4th child, David, she went back to college and earned her Bachelors degree in History from California State University, Fullerton.
David and Pat, shared a passion for travel; they travelled the world seeking adventure and enrichment. In her free time, she donated her time as an Amiga at Heritage Hill Historical Park. There she would lead tours of the property for school children. Pat very much enjoyed her time at Heritage Hill Historical Park and working with the children. As a devoted Lutheran, she loved her church. Pat especially enjoyed her Tuesday Senior Day Out and the dear friends she made there. Pat was retired and an avid book reader and mystery fan. Give the woman a problem, she would figure it out. Nothing could get in her way..
Pat’s devoted husband of 44 years, David Van Strien, departed from this world on August 19, 2010. She is survived by her dear children Debbie Aguilar, husband Jose’ Luis Aguilar, Carolee Van Strien, Joanne Banner, husband Jonas Banner, and David Van Strien, wife Nikki Van Strien, Grand children Alice and Oliver Van Strien. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Pat’s name to a Breast Cancer foundation of your choice.
A visitation for Patricia will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Pacific View Mortuary Legacy Chapel, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar, California 92625. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar, California 92625. A graveside service to follow will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Pacific View Memorial Park - Seaview, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar, California 92625. A celebration of life will be held immediately after the service at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Laguna Woods, California
