Daughter of Si and Phyllis Ehrlich, Lynne was born in Baltimore and grew up in Silver Spring, MD, a suburb of Washington, D.C.
She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Drew University in New Jersey, majoring in English Literature and European History. From a family steeped in theatre with both parents involved in acting, Lynne appeared on stage at Drew in several productions and wrote for the school newspaper, The Acorn. Lynne said her college years were a time where “most importantly, I had fun.” While in college, she spent a semester abroad studying at St. Clare’s Hall in Oxford, UK. Her time in England prompted her life-long love of travel.
Following her undergraduate degree, Lynne obtained a Masters of Public Administration from Kentucky State University. This degree prepared Lynne for the first of three acts in her career path. First, Lynne spent twenty-five years working for the Federal Department of Labor. She was selected for the inaugural year of the Presidential Management Intern Program. Lynne’s assignments at the Department of Labor included working in the Office of Inspector General and as an auditor/investigator focusing on examining private pension plans. In Lynne’s “spare time” she earned the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) professional designation as a means to improve her auditing capabilities.
Lynne’s career second act involved a ten-year stint bringing to the private sector her experience regarding ERISA and pension plans. During this time, she obtained the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) accreditation.
In addition, in her 50s Lynne took up abstract painting. She was also a connoisseur of eclectic music styles and well known for her irreverent sense of humor.
Lynne’s third act allowed her to return to her love of travel. Following her retirement from the private sector, she went back to school to become accredited in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. She put most of her possessions in storage and bravely and adventurously moved to Bangkok even though she knew only one person in Thailand. She worked there as a teacher of adult students for more than a year. Lynne loved both the job and the experience of living abroad.
She returned to the United States with the expectation that she would teach English in Southern California for a short time period and then travel to Peru for her next adventure. Unfortunately, the reemergence of cancer put a halt to those plans.
Lynne was involved in the fellowship of AA and at the time of her death she was in the thirty-first year of her sobriety.
Lynne was preceded in death by her father Si Ehrlich and is survived by her mother Phyllis Rubin Ehrlich, her sister Gail and her sister-in-law Patricia Vinciguerra. At the time of her death, Lynne remained good friends with her ex-husband David McAuley.
Due to COVID restrictions Lynne had a private burial. She was laid to rest at Pacific View in Newport Beach, CA.
