John Milton Maney of Seal Beach, California passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Cedars Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles, California after a brave battle with leukemia. He was 68 years of age.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted companion of 32 years Minh Tam Do of Seal Beach, California and her children and grandchildren, who he loved as his own; Maurice Nguyen of Fountain Valley, California, Paula Nguyen of West Hills, California, Germaine Nguyen of Woodland Hills, California, Nia Nguyen of Beverly Hills, California and her grandchildren; Natasha Vo, Chantal Vo and Preston Brown.
John was born May 12, 1942 in Pitcher, Oklahoma to Finus and Betty Maney. Throughout his life, this quiet, kind and gentle man spent his time between Oklahoma and Southern California. After graduating from Bell Gardens High School in Bell Gardens, California, John proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1964. John had a productive career with General Motors assisting in the production of thousands of vehicles during his 18 years at the Van Nuys, California manufacturing plant.
Upon retiring from General Motors, John spent time on his constructive and creative hobbies. A natural mechanic and handy man, John could fix anything with a motor. He also loved building his home on his Oklahoma ranch. Happily, John never had a shortage of projects while maintaining his home and ranch. He truly loved living in the countryside surrounded by nature in the home he created.
But most of all, John loved spending time with Tam, her children and grandchildren. He was always there to patiently give more than a helping hand without expecting anything in return. John Maney will always be loved, missed and will never be forgotten.
