NEWPORT BEACH – Gregory J. Goeser, left us unexpectedly on October 11, 2018 at the age of 56 after battling complications from surgery resulting from a fall. He passed away peacefully in Newport Beach with his loving wife and daughter by his side and a smile on his face.
Greg is survived by his wife Valerie of 27 years, daughter Tay, father Charles, mother Marjorie, brother Christopher (Cyndi), sister Teresa (Richard), father- and mother-in-law Roy and Diane Volk, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Roy Junior and we know they are enjoying laughs, golf, and good times while watching over their loved ones. Greg was a loving husband, father, son and friend to all.
Greg grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from Bishop Alemany High School and then on to UC Santa Barbara. After graduation from UCSB, Greg was a successful entrepreneur in Los Angeles. Hard work and dedication led to an early retirement from his business and the opportunity to move to Great Falls, MT. Lifelong friends were forged during this time, spending countless hours on the golf course and enjoying family and friends. Longing for the beaches they had left behind, the family moved to Newport Beach, CA.
Greg loved travel, concerts, golfing, boating, the beach, and living life to the fullest. Greg, Valerie and Tay traveled the world together exploring Europe, Australia, Asia and Mexico, cherishing every adventure and making memories that would last a lifetime. One of Greg’s highlights was traveling to South Africa with his friends. He enjoyed sports and cheered on both the Dodgers and his daughter Tay’s alma mater, University of Arizona. He has supported the Rams and Chargers through their moves and was thrilled the Rams were back in LA where they were meant to be. He was passionate about cooking and good wine, and enjoyed hosting family and friends. Greg loved living life and was most happy with Valerie, Tay and their pets.
Greg’s smiling blue-green eyes and his contagious smile will always be remembered. Combined with his kindness for others, sense of humor, inner strength, and the love he had for his family and friends are just some of the many traits that we will all cherish and deeply miss.
A Celebration of Life in Greg’s honor will be held on November 10, 2018, 12:30 pm at the American Legion Newport Post, located at 215 E. 15th St., Newport Beach, CA, 92663.
