

Cynthia Anne Netherton died on July 18 at her home in Newport Beach. She had celebrated her 75th birthday on July 3. She was born in Boston, MA to Gertrude Faith and William Francis Shelley. She grew up in Wellesley, MA and graduated from Dana Hall in Wellesley and Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, MA.
She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Washington in 1969, where she met her future husband, Larry. Following marriage in 1970, the couple lived in the Chicago, IL area for ten years before moving to California in 1981. They spent two years in Irvine , followed by four in Marin County before moving back to Newport Beach in 1987. The couple was approaching their 52nd wedding anniversary next month.
She is remembered for her enthusiasm and generosity. She particularly enjoyed her friends, travel, dogs, and her family's summer house in Dartmouth, MA.
Cindy was a dedicated mother. She was involved and invested in numerous activities such as PTA and the athletic booster club. She loved music, theater, movies, art, and especially the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.
She is survived by her husband Larry, her son Brad and his wife Shelby, and by her brother, William F. Shelley Jr. of Vermont.
