A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pacific View Mortuary Chapel with a Graveside Service to follow.
Crystal Alicia Laren was born on July 4th, 1996 in Burbank, California. She initially resided in the City of Paramount along with her parents, Patricia and Shannon, her sister Candice who was 9 years old and brother Kohl, who was 10 ½ months old. She was a happy baby, but she was born with her daddy’s natural frown. She was stubborn and mischievous, and along with her brother, brought the term, “Terrible Twos” to a new level. She was shy when around strangers and had to be coaxed to even order food at a restaurant.
Crystal and family moved several years later to the City of La Habra, where she attended the Carden School in Whittier. She became a member of a dance team at “The Dance Spot” and won several awards. She played AYSO soccer and did well as a defender, due to her aggressive form of play and good conditioning. She also became a Cheer Leader at Carden. During this time, her parents divorced, which was devastating to her.
When her father eventually moved to the high desert, she and her brother visited and learned to ride horses, quad runners and motor cycles. Crystal was “Hell on Wheels” on her quad runner. No Fear! She befriended her father’s 4 dogs and loved to play with them.
She and her brother then moved to Huntington Beach with her father, where she attended “Sowers Middle School” and eventually, “Edison High School.” She was a good student who was very intelligent and responsible. She always did her homework immediately upon returning home from school. She loved the beach and enjoyed hanging out with her friends, body boarding and laying out getting a tan. She graduated from High School and then moved to Aliso Veijo with her mother.
Crystal traveled to the Tehachapi Mountains many times during her young life to the rustic “off the grid” family cabin. There she enjoyed hiking, shooting, and playing in the snow with her brother and a few of their friends who were willing to “rough it.” During one trip at a very young age, Crystal even assisted with skinning a rattlesnake!
She was an adventurous person who loved to try new things. She was always excited to travel and went on many trips, including Hawaii twice, where she surfed and snorkeled with the turtles. She traveled to many different National Parks and went camping and fishing at a variety of mountain locations.
Crystal had a great sense of humor, which her father will expand on.
Crystal got her first job working for McDonalds, then Stater Bros grocery store and then for a mortgage banking company. At the age of 20, she was running a 50 person call center and involved in the hiring and firing of employees, some over twice her age. She then began working for “Ytel” as an account manager. She was very excited about working for the company because she loved the challenge and the people she worked with.
Crystal passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2018 at her Grandmother’s house in the City of Long Beach surrounded by family.
