Christopher is preceded in death by his mother Norma Gibbs (Holderman) and father Carlton Gibbs. He was born July 15th, 1943 in Amarillo, Texas and was the younger sibling to his beloved sister, Dr. Terry Gibbs.
He was a graduate of Talasco High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. Christopher earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from OU in 1967 and since then has played an instrumental role in enhancing his alma mater. A generous advocate and supporter of the College of Architecture, he endowed a Recruiting and Retention Scholarship for architecture students.
He also endowed the Christopher C. Gibbs Integrated Learning Center in Gould Hall, an interactive space with state-of-the-art technology that allows students of all disciplines to collaborate and give presentations. Gibbs served on the College of Architecture Board of Visitors and took time each year to meet with students and provide lectures in studio courses on his experiences as an architect, home builder and businessman.They have since named The Christopher C. Gibbs School of Architecture in his honor.
During his 50-year career, Gibbs had planned communities and neighborhoods that have earned regional and national building awards for design, merchandising, marketing and sales excellence. His companies, Christopher Homes and PLC Land, were responsible for planning, financing, developing and constructing more than 15,000 homes throughout southern California, Florida, Texas and Saudi Arabia. He inspired students and faculty and was a walking example of true grit, hard work and dedication.
Christopher is survived by his wife Ania, sister Terry, daughter Christina Summer and his grandchildren Angelina and Alexander whom he adored.
