He became a very good colleague and as a teacher in my years as director of francophone affairs.  Bill was a lot of fun to work with, as we did quite a few projects together.  He will be sadly missed, and I will have found memories of Bill as a teacher, a hockey coach, a colleague, and an awesome human being.

Sorry for your loss.  I recall Bill as a great teacher at the college when I attended in the 80's and 90's.

Many people do not know that Bill was instrumental in the formation of Tri-County Literacy Council.  He was on the original Board of Directors and with other Board members he entrusted me with getting the agency "off the ground".  In doing so, I enjoyed a 37 year career at the agency. His mentorship, support and care for his community will always be appreciated.  We had many good laughs in spite of the serious work.  Rest in peace Bill---never forgotten.

I am saddened to hear the news that Bill has passed.
My memories of Bill go back roughly 50 years ago when Bill paid me a visit after a game when I was playing for the CharLan Rebels. He convinced me to attend St Lawrence College and try out for the College hockey team, of which he was coaching.
Looking back it was a great decision  for me as I played with a group of wonderful hockey players and friends to this day.
He left a lasting impression of a soft spoken man that was passionate about the sport yet committed to the well being of all the players.
His hockey legacy will live on with everyone that he has come in touch with, both on and off the ice.
Bill was a great mentor and will always be fondly remembered as a genuine human being.

Hello Sue, I am very sorry for your loss. I have great memories of Bill and Ron as coaches. They were very effective in helping us becoming better Hockey players and people. 

I remember Talking with Bill when I was having some issues with the boys. They were good guys but liked picking on weaknesses….boys will be boys. Names like cue ball, aardvark etc….I am sure the guys are laughing. At the time I did not appreciate it and took the time to talk to Bill. Told him “my mom said just hit the guy who says it again”. Bill said maybe you should not listen to your mom on this one. I did listen to her and gave the guy a good shot.  

In this case my mom was right. Hahah. But Bill was always calm and caring. We had great success as a team made up of many individuals. Bill and Ron created the right atmosphere which allowed us all to be better.

Bill and I were first cousins , although I was seventeen years younger , I remember Bill’s sense of humour . He called me Donut . I learned to waterski from him at Alice and Charlie’s cottage on Cranberry Lake .
My condolences Sue . We will not be at Bill’s funeral as my husband Mickie is going through chemotherapy right now for bowel cancer .

We were really saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. The first time Kieran came out to visit you and Bill was his first real grand adventure as a kid. It was awesome. Going fishing at the quarry, picking fresh eggs, riding the red trike, it was just such a fun time. What a treat it was to come back as an adult and create more memories with the start of my own family in tow: lunch at the farm, and going to the sugar shack! We will forever treasure those memories. You’ll be getting endless hugs from us when we finally see you again, Sue. But for now we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Jan and I were certainly saddened today when we learned of Bill’s passing.  Bill and his wonderful sisters and brother, Danny, lived only 5 houses away from us on William Street in Kingston. Bill was an incredible athlete (especially, competitive hockey) at out local high school and we enjoyed studying together in Toronto. Bill taught himself to play banjo and guitar, formed a 4 man group(including  Micheal Burgess of Les Miz fame) that played at many house parties and cottages. Wonderful memories!  I had a lovely visit with him at the farm/ orchard of which he was so proud. 
I am in a battle with cancer myself and, unfortunately, cannot join Louise and Danny for Bill’s Funeral Mass on Monday.  My sincerest thoughts and affection to  Sue, Bill’s family and his many friends as you say goodbye to a special, special man.

Our condolences to your family…have a little story about Bill.  So Bill coached my husband when he played Batam…and during the batam tournament Tom scored on his own net and Bill never forgot it.  So years later our son is playing in the batam tournament and Tom was coaching…now Bill knew me from the college and saw me there and asked me why I was there…so I tell him my son is playing and my husband is coaching…so Bill says who did you marry so I said Tom Wilson…Bill says “the only Tom Wilson I know scored on his own net in the batam tournament “ I said that would be my husband.  It’s been a big joke for Tom and Bill never let him forget it.  Just thought this would make you see how much Bill remembered the kids he coached.

I knew Bill many years ago, while working along side of him at the Adult Retraining Centre. I always had the greatest respect for him. Bill was a man with a great sense of humour, a beautiful smile,  a man who always had a twinkle in his eyes.
