Suzzanne I can still remember the last time I saw you and your dad. You were visiting on your way to school in Cape Bretton,  and I was getting ready to attend the Atlantic Police Academy......

I had the privilege to work with Ted in Cornwall for many years. He was such a hard worker and made my time in Cornwall easier when you think about how busy we were. He was always kind and smiling. What a loss to all who knew Ted. I will remember that he and I were the exhibit custodians and if you can imagine how much contraband we had to process and then destroy. He was also a great ambassador for our Detachment in the courtrooms ensuring that our cases were handled well. He built strong partnerships with the Crown prosecutors, Justices and Defence Attorneys. We should all be proud of the work he did for the RCMP. I am also proud for his love of family and family. 

Ted was an amazing individual.  His untimely passing is one that will leave a tremendous void in all of our lives.  He is simply irreplaceable.  I regret not telling him how important he was to us.  I never thanked him for the role he played in my husbands life. He had beautiful energy, that radiated through any room he entered. He was a kind soul. 
Ted, you will be forever missed.  Enjoy the afterlife my friend, I hope they have good scotch.

So sorry to here about the passing of Ted. We were neighbors on Bruce Street for 21 years. 
My sympathies , Tina and Suzanne.
He will be greatly missed. 

Ted left behind many golden memories.  At the end of April, fourteen years ago we ran the Big Sur marathon together.  We had so many laughs while we camped among the redwoods, stayed in youth hostels and  explored the California coast. He beat me badly in a race the weekend after the marathon which was a charity fundraiser for the Norwegian community in San Francisco.  Ted placed in the top 3 three!  The Norwegian pastries at the finish did not go unnoticed!  This was a life-event for me and the months of training together was always light-hearted and fulfilling.  Thank you for a life well lived, my friend, you are greatly missed.  

I have know Ted since being a member at the B.S.H. hunting club where he was also a member, I have always know him to be a generous understanding and happy person. I used to call him often during the day when we hunted together just to reassure myself that there was someone there and that things were all right, Ted always picked up the phone.
I will miss a lot about him, his quick smiles and joyous outlook.

May we all be well and remember.

What a choc it was to hear that  tragic news.  I knew Ted from the outdoor club/hiking activity. I will remember Ted's smill, his funny side and his " joie de vivre". He was a  tall man at heart and will  be deeply miss.

Stunned and saddened to hear about the passing of  your father .
Ted was an experienced outdoorsman,  and very safety conscious,  so it's terrible news to to hear of his death during an outdoor adventure.
It's been a few years now since I've last seen Ted,   but I remember he sure liked home cooked meals,   was a good conversationalist,   and a wicked backgammon player.
I can only imagine how devastated and heartbroken you are to unexpectedly lose your beloved father.
Please accept my most sincere condolences,  and best thoughts to you,  all his family,   and friends.

Ted Biro - a gentle/man in every sense of the word. 
The only things he loved more than life were his beautiful daughters Suzzane & Kristina, and the love of his life - his wife Kathleen. 
“Goodbyes hurt the most when the story was not finished”.  

Sending sincere condolences to the family.  Ted will always have a lasting memory in our hearts. We only knew Ted for a few short days but from our time together, the video and all the pictures, know that he lived life to the fullest. We would like to offer our dearest sympathies to the Biro family, all his loved ones, and circle of dear friends. We had the pleasure of meeting Ted and Kathleen through the Piper family connection. It was also a joy in knowing both their daughters Suzzanne and Kristina over the years. He was so proud of both his daughters and made sure they knew they were loved and supported.  As time goes by , we all went in different directions.  My husband Peter 
( yes also a hard core Hungarian ! ) and myself of Irish decent,  befriended Ted again in 2017 . When  he adopted his 
in-laws cottage , of Raymond & Fernande  , in the upper Laurentian's. Ted was kind enough to allow us to spend vacation time up there by the lake in the beautiful oasis that he created.  Peter,  going through a health concern,  loved the serenity that Ted ensured at his cottage.  Ted loved nature and embraced all of its beauty in his warm & welcoming home. He always had a full stack of fire wood ready for us and, one winter he put his Christmas tree up a month early for our arrival, with  a gift under the tree for us.!  Ted was a family man, true to his word, and had a very kind soul. May dear Sylvie also  find strength in knowing that he was a find companion and friend to have. God bless you Ted, and keep you in his loving arms. May you look upon your children,  and guide them with your never ending love . Enjoy all the sunrises and sunsets that Mother Nature brings us every day,  upon this wonderful universe. !

I first met Ted just prior to starting off on a solo trek to Everest Base Camp in 2012. My guide suggested that I team up with a group of Canadians who were also on fast track to trek the route to EBC. 

I stand at 5 feet 4 and when I met Ted it was like a meeting between Gulliver and the Lilliputian. Here was this gentle giant who was immediately charming, funny and friendly. We met over a cup of tea and by the first sip we were talking to each other like long lost friends. Ted introduced me to the rest of the group and together we trekked the EBC route; I can honestly say it was one of the best treks I have ever done. 

Along the route we even managed to locate a pub at 3500 meters. Shared a couple of beers; with Ted sharing some really funny stories from his RCMP days , our families and promises of visiting Singapore one day. When we reached the last village of Gorek Shep at 5100 meters , Ted and I shared a room; but the beds were really small , I fitted snugly enough with room to spare under my feet while Ted had a quarter of his body hanging out of his bed ; needless to say he had a rough night but managed to wake up the next morning full of beans!. 
 We have since been in touch over the phone or FaceBook; many amongst us will miss his sense of humour, kindness and addictive friendliness. Rest In Peace my friend. 

Known Ted for many years basically as a hunting partner and great friend. He was serious, loyal, respectful, honest and cared a lot towards people....  had a great sense of humor !
Ted loved his gardening, many sports activities, "sunflower seeds" and friends.
The hunt group members and I have good memories of Ted. He will be thoroughly missed !

He loved his cottage. Never had to worry if we could find something to do while visiting.

I was so fortunate to have Ted as a brother and best friend.  A finer, more generous, compassionate loving person  will come along once in a lifetime, I truly was blessed and will miss him.

I first knew Ted as the handsome neighbour and doting dad across the street, then as a kindred outdoor sports enthusiast, and finally. as a good friend. 

 He introduced me to the Cornwall Outdoor Club de Plein Air which opened up a whole new world to me.  This past March, while snowshoeing at the Upper Canada Bird Sanctuary, he told me how much he enjoyed reading my stories, that he thought they were fun.   I didn’t know at the time that this would be our last conversation. 

I will miss his openness and genuine nature which made him so easy to talk to.   His voice and laughter still resonate in my mind. He was kind, welcoming, and thoughtful to those around him.  I feel privileged to have known him and to have shared so many memories.  He will forever be in my heart.

Some of my fondest memories of uncle Ted were during the summer I visited Nova Scotia, where he taught me the value of spending time reading a good book in a comfy chair  with a stash of sunflower seeds, building models, and planting Lupins...   And good times with my uncle, aunt, and cousins in the camper road tripping to peggy's cove..     

    His passion and Tallant for gardening was also impressive and inspiring to me, everytime I visited Cornwall,I had the privilege of seeing his beautiful, well manicured creations.  

 His unique sence of humor, and good heart have always brought a smile to my face.

    The last time we(my wife and I)  had the privilege of sitting with Ted and Sylvie was at new years up north this year, where we shared some laughs, drinks, and good conversation.. ..and his home made cookies.

 
Uncle Ted, your "larger than life" presence will be missed, we are all still in disbelief.
