She is survived by her three loving sons Marcus, Stirling, and Vaughan and her granddaughter Erica Westrup, as well as her brothers Nick and Steve Denecky.
Mary was born as Mary Denecky on September 19th, 1938 in rural Alberta. She graduated from Coalhurst Highschool in 1956 and joined the RCAF in 1957 where she trained as a Weather Observer in Trenton, Ontario.
She met Neville Westrup while they were both stationed at an RCAF base in Resolute, Nunavut. They were married in 1960 in Louppy-sur-Loison in Meuse, France where they started a family. In the years that followed they travelled extensively, living (among other locations) in Comox, Osoyoos, Kitimat, Montreal, and Kelowna before finally settling down in Cornwall, Ontario, for the rest of their lives.
Mary grew up to hard farm work and learned the value of helping others. To the end of her life she was still helping people, always willing to give what she could, and never expected anything in return. She is one of the very beautiful rare special people on this Earth.
Mary did not want people to make a fuss over her passing, she was never an attention seeker.
Family will be in attendance at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, East Branch, 614 First Street East (613-933-2841) on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by cremation. Interment will take place at a later date.
Her last wish was for her ashes to be scattered on a warm beach, under palm trees, where she would never be cold again. As expressions of sympathy donations to the OSPCA would be appreciated by the family.
