Laurie Nisula

Peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital McConnell Site on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the age of 62 years. A cherished wife to Steven, they were high school sweethearts, married for 43 years. A loving Mother to Adam Nisula (David Smith), and Ashley Sloan (Patrick). A beloved Grandmother, Laurie will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Finch, Maple and Kale. Loving Daughter of Robert and Theresa (nèe Merpaw) Johnston. Dear Sister to Janet Newton (Scott), Kerry Newman (Allen), Wendy Killoran (Grenville), and Michael Johnston (Cindy) and fun loving Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Laurie always had a positive outlook and met life with a smile and a sense of humour. Through all her medical adversity, her laughter, positive attitude, and zest for life never waivered. She used her love of numbers to craft a successful career bookkeeping for businesses in the Cornwall area.

Laurie loved a house full of music and would often be found humming a tune or singing along around her piano. Her love of the outdoors included gardening and camping, but a passion for baking and cooking will be remembered by all who met her.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Cornwall Community Hospital for their care and compassion over the last several years. Appreciation is also expressed to the many caring medical professionals Laurie met during her journey.

Family and Friends may pay their respects at the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street, Cornwall (across from City Hall) on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 6 pm to 9 pm.
