Beloved husband of Rita Thompson (née Beckstead) of over 58 years.
Loving father of Kimberly Thompson (Manfred Fast), Gale Thompson (late Steven Downing) and Amanda Thompson. Proud grandfather of Kylie and Lucas. Cherished brother of Joan Cryderman (late Cyril).
Predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Hazel Thompson (née Swerdfeger) and his sister Shirley Cryderman (late Roy).
Ken (a.k.a. “Jr”) had a successful career as an electrical motor repairman for over 40 years and co-owner of Surgeson Electric Ltd. Well known as an expert in his field, Ken was often called on in retirement to tackle the jobs that had no manuals and instead relied on experience. Born and raised in Osnabruck Township and a lifetime resident of Ingleside, Ken enjoyed many good times with extended Cryderman and Beckstead families and many, many friends of SD&G. A well-known handyman renovating and building his own home and often helping others, Jr was also a great athlete playing hockey, bowling and curling, but it was golf that became his true passion in sport. It’s here that Jr found yet one more family with his golf friends at Upper Canada Golf Course. A member for over 50 years, Ken became somewhat of a “legend” with his personal best of 69, three under par, and even recently golfing his own age at 77.
