Beloved wife of 62 years to Anthony William Kerekes. Loving mother of Kathleen (Jim Cherry) and Angela (Scott MacDonald).
Dear Grandmother (Nagymama) of Chantal Campeau-Weales (Kevin Weales), Natalie Campeau, Sara MacDonald and Ian MacDonald (Celine). Great Grandmother (Nagymama) to Jack Weales, Jade Weales, and Hailey Ocolisanu.
Elder sister to Elaine Martin (late Edward), Ronald Paquette (Agnes), Wayne Paquette (Nancy), and the late Brenda Lough (late Harold) and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Daniel Paquette and late Leara Paquette (née Pecore).
Barbara had a very successful career with the Employment and Immigration Canada. Although her most rewarding final 16 years of employment were those of being the first women elected as Ontario Vice President of the Public Service Alliance of Canada for the Employment and Immigration Union.
Barbara had a vision and a goal “All for Justice and Justice for all”, with her dedication for rights and equalities for women. She was also a longtime member and treasurer for the Cornwall Seniors Club. She was well known amongst the members for the many trips she organized.
Family will be in attendance at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, 20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall, ON (613) 932-8482, on Friday, July 28, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Hospice Cornwall Care for Second Street West, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
