Funeral services for Wendy Leigh Hilburn Doyle, 36, are set for 1:30 P.M. on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Shock officiating. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.
Mrs. Doyle died on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Springhill Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock, AR. She was born in Corinth on August 17, 1978 to Roger and Diane Hilburn. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Growing up she was active in the FUMC youth group, won numerous beauty pageants across the southeast and took to modeling. Being active at the Corinth Y, she was on the gymnastics team, swim team, and a Golden Eagle Cheerleader. She was also on a bowling league and in the Girl Scouts.
Wendy is a 1996 graduate of Corinth High School and while there she was on the Color Guard of the Warrior Band, a cheerleader and played basketball for the Lady Warriors. She was also selected as Who’s Who among American High School Students. After graduating from Corinth, she attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and was on the Color Guard for the Tiger Band. She then went on to Mississippi State University where she majored in Business Education, was on the Chancellor’s List, received an English Award, a multi-year listee Honor Society member, and was the Public Relations Officer for the Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity. She also earned the Gunther Pirag Scholarship and Habitat for Humanity.
In 2007, she became employed with Eagle Bank of Little Rock and was selected as the Employee of the Year in 2013. In 2008, Wendy met her prince charming, Pete. Just a few month into their relationship, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She never gave up though, she fought all the way till the end of her journey down here.
Along with her parents, Wendy is survived by her husband, Peter J. Doyle; her daughter, Emma Grace Doyle of North Little Rock, AR; a step-son, Nick Parenteau of Woonsocket, RI; one sister, Crysté Parker and husband Eric; half-brother, Richie Hilburn; nieces and nephews, Austin Hilburn, Grayce, Elijah, Sarah, and Joseph Parker all of Corinth; mother-in-law, Joan Alexander of Foxboro, MA; two aunts, two uncles, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Faye and Jessie Smith and Ollie and James Baxter; great-grandparents, Enloe and Beatrice Gooch, and John and Lillian Null.
Ralph Dance, Charlie Gooch, Freddie Gooch, Jeff Gooch, Russell Smith, and Eric Atkins will serve as Pallbearers.
The Corinth High School Class of 1996, and her Classmates from NEMCC and MSU will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 14th from 5:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Home and from 12:30 till service time on Sunday at the church.
