Funeral services for Rev. Rufus Barnes are set for 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Theo Holiness Church with Bro. Ronald Wilbanks, Bro. Harold Dixon, Bro. Billy Vess and Bro. Dewayne Herring officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.
Bro. Barnes born on November 29, 1922 in Alcorn County to the late Victor and Dora Dean Whittemore Barnes. He was a Navy Veteran and was as ordained minister in 1955 and the pastor of Theo Holiness Church for over 40 years. He retired from Auto Body work of many years with the reputation of being the best around here. He had a very full schedule of the about 60 hours a week; he worked three gardens, pastored a church full time and visited the sick and needy regularly. He loved his family with the love of Christ and he loved his church family. He was a man who was a friend and a light to everyone everywhere he went and impacted lives.
Along with his parents, Bro. Barnes was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Milton Barnes; a daugher, Patricia Jones; and two sisters, Pearl Sloan and Josephine Stuart.
He is survived by his wife, Lila Dale Barnes, one daughter, Janet Roach and husband Danny of Corinth; one son-in-law, Charles Jones of Corinth; six grandchildren, Becky Jones McClamroch and husband Clint, Eddy Jones and wife Jamie, Scott Roach and wife Sherry, Jeramie Roach and wife Mechelle, Dana Roach Peters and husband Kevin, Brad Roach and wife Beth; thirteen great-grandchildren, Eric Rinehart, Riley Roach, Ashley McClamroch Howell and husband Hank, Austin McClamroch, Anna Roach, Alyson Roach, Dawson Roach, Adam McClamroch, Colby Roach, Katelin Peters, Kaden Peters, Daniel Roach, Carly Roach; one great-great-grandchild, Aiden Thomas Howell to be born anyday now.
Eddy Jones, Scott Roach, Jeramie Roach, Brad Roach, Kevin Peters, Riley Roach, Eric Rinehart, Clint McClamroch, Austin McClamroch will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. James Chessor, Bro. Harold Dixon, Bro. Phillip Rickman, Bro. J.C. Dixon, Bro. Paul Durham, Mike Rinehart, Hank Howell and Jimmy Caldwell.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 11th from 5:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. and from 11:00 a.m until service time on Monday at the Theo Holiness Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Theo Holiness Church building fund.
