Rachel V. Brawner

Visitation will be Saturday from 5 pm – 8 pm and 12 noon until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brawner died on March 24, 2017 at Whitfield Nursing Home. She was born on July 28, 1921 in Alcorn Co to the late Oscar and Elizabeth Plaxico Shields. She was a 1940 graduate of Alcorn Agricultural High School, retired as a garment factory worker, and was a member of Kossuth Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Brawner; sons, Forrest and Joey Brawner; daughter, Sharon Pavlosky; brother, Cullen Shields; sisters, Ruby Mathis, Beatrice Wilson, Jewel Gant and Verda Lee Parish Nelms.

Mrs. Brawner is survived by her son, Brandon Brawner and wife Sandra; daughter Linda Gifford and husband Jerry; brother, Edward Shields and wife Thelma; grandchildren, Rachel Shaw, Brad Brawner (Ramona), John Brawner (Becky), Brandy Blanton (Britt), Tracy Rinehart, Jill Hayden, Chad Gifford, Heather Ferrell (John), Holly Tyson (Cody), Brooke Shadburn (Russ), Megan Box (Tyler); 17 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
