Paul Samuel Jones, Jr.

A Memorial Service for Paul Samuel Jones, Jr., 83, is set for 2:30 pm Saturday, September 23, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church in Corinth, MS.

Paul died September 7, 2023 while briefly residing at Stoneridge of Farmington. Paul was born on April 14, 1940 in Staunton, Virginia to the late Paul and Bess Jones. He was the middle of three children. He graduated at the top of his class from Robert E. Lee High School in 1958. He won many academic awards and scholarships, but always claimed that his greatest accomplishment during high school was becoming an Eagle Scout. Paul completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Richmond. While there, he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. After graduation, he attended Union Theological Seminary where he received his Masters of Theology. He continued his studies at Vanderbilt University and earned a second Masters degree in Philosophy. He worked many years for IKON Financial Group.

Paul was married to Celia Mitchell Jones for 40 years. They married in Nashville, TN where they built their life together. Paul was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church. Through the years, he was involved in his community in various ways. He was an avid gardener and became certified as a Master Gardener. He was also part of a parachute group for many years as well as a dedicated member of Toast Masters. Paul also Volunteered at the Nashville Crisis Center.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, John Jones and Bettye Jones LeBonte.

He is survived by his wife, Celia; stepdaughter, Laurin Fogel Porter (Waring); and three grandchildren, Alex, Mary Grace and Drew Porter. He will be missed by family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either St. Jude Children Research Hospital or the Nashville Humane Society.
