Marjorie Perry King, of Corinth, MS, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at her home in Corinth, MS. Marjorie was born March 5, 1926 in Rienzi, MS. She was a graduate of Rienzi School and attended Northeast MS Junior College and Blue Mountain College.
Marjorie married her sweetheart, Charles Arthur King of Farmington, MS on July 2nd, 1950 and continued her education after their marriage. She graduated from Blue Mountain College in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science.
Marjorie taught elementary school for over 25 years. She touched many children’s lives during her careers at Hinkle Creek School, Farmington School and South Corinth Elementary. Her sons and their friends and many others remember her fondly as their “strict but not so strict” 5th grade English teacher.
Marjorie was an active member of First Baptist Church in Corinth where she enjoyed volunteering in the church library and her weekly Sunday school class. She loved reading the bible and started her morning each day with her daily devotional. Marjorie enjoyed staying active well into her 90’s by walking and enjoying sitting on her back patio with her “sweet” cat, Tom. And of course, she never missed her weekly Thursday hair appointment.
A younger Marjorie and Charlie really enjoyed traveling places near and far. She and Charlie took many trips together over the years and she loved to tell of their trips to places like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Alaska, Maine, Canada and even overseas to Singapore and Europe. They also never hesitated to drive to Texas to visit their son and grandchildren.
Marjorie was above all else, a doting wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her son David King, of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Stephen King and his wife Tracy of Corinth. She leaves her granddaughter Katie Mahood and her husband Sergeant Phillip Mahood of Augusta, Georgia; one grandson Joshua Arthur King, now living in New York City, NY; Joshua & Katie’s mother, Bonnie King of Corpus Christi, TX and four great-granddaughters, Devon, Morgan, Ashlyn and Lillian Mahood. She will be missed dearly by her family and that ‘sweet’ old cat, Tom.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur King and her parents, Allie Ruth Green Perry and Ovie Elmer Perry and one grandson baby Joshua David King.
Celebration of Life Service for Marjorie Perry King 92, are set for 11:00 am Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery.
