Luther was born April 2, 1933 to the late Orlis and Belle Shelton Castleberry. He was a graduate of Corinth High School, received his bachelor's degree from Northeast Community College, and his master’s degree in teaching from The University of Mississippi. He directed bands across Mississippi, Georgia, and Tennessee. His favorite instruments were the clarinet and the saxophone. Mr. Castleberry volunteered his time by serving in the United States Air Force Reserves as well as the Army National Guard. He was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church in Corinth, Mississippi, and his current church for the past six years, Cowles Chapel United Methodist Church in Thompson Station, TN. Mr. Castleberry loved to smile and loved people, spending his time visiting with neighbors, friends, and strangers alike. He will be dearly missed by his community and friends.
Mr. Castleberry was welcomed home by his parents and his brother, Thomas Castleberry.
Luther leaves behind three children: LaRhonda Rizor (Mike) of Nashville, Tennessee, Renae LeRoy of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Mony Parker (Kenny) of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Chris Rizor, Noel Rizor, David Rizor (Josephine), Landon Rizor, Terry Ripley, Tony Ripley, Chelsea Vasquez (Roberto), Julianna LeRoy, and Michael Thigpen; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025 at First Methodist Church at 3161 East Shiloh Road in Corinth, Mississippi, beginning at three o'clock in the afternoon, with Rev. Kim Ratliff officiating, assisted by Rev. Ginger Jones Holland and Rev. Earl Davis. The family will begin accepting friends at one o'clock until service time.
