Funeral services for Lester Earl "Pete" Pratt, 78, of Corinth are set for 2:00 P.M on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Tate Baptist Church with Bro. Mickey Trammel officiating. Burial will be in the Forrest Memorial Park cemetery.
Mr. Pratt died on Tuesday, March 1st at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was born on Friday, November 15, 1932 to the late Edwin and Helen Forsythe Pratt. During his life he served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Radford and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1953 to 1957. After returning home, he worked for Tennessee River Pulp and Paper, a.k.a the Paper Mill, in Counce, TN. He attended church at Tate Baptist Church, where he was a member for 51 years, loved to watch Ole Miss sports, cooking on the grill, listening to jazz music, but above all, spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joel Craig Pratt; two brothers, Melvin and Floyd Pratt; and two sisters, Sue Pyron and Mae Oma Jones.
Survivors include his loving wife of years, Joyce Kitchens Pratt; one son, Michael Pratt and his wife Kim; one daughter, Debra Pratt McCullough and her husband Greg; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Ross and her husband Terry; one brother, Jerry Pratt and his wife Linda; two sisters, Jane Gurley and Dianne Hilburn; seven grandchildren, Alan, Brooks, Baylor, and Addie Pratt, Britni and Landon McCollough and Emily Ross; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and beginning at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday at the church.
