Celebration of Life Service for Kenneth “Butch” Parnell, 81, are set for 1:00 pm Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Hodum officiating. Burial will follow in the Sulphur Spring Cemetery.
Butch died March 14, 2020 at Stoneridge of Farmington. He was born February 20, 1939 in Booneville, MS to the late Walter and Minnie Parnell. He was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church and a 1958 graduate of Farmington High School. He was a retired Captain for the Corinth Fire Dept. after 30 years of service and a lifetime member of Corinth Elks Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, duck hunting and working in his yard. He was a great story teller; “Never let the truth get in the way of telling a good story” is what he would say.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Parnell; parents; brothers, Bart Parnell (Loraine), Owen Whitehurst (Eunice), Obie Whitehurst (Earnestine), Bob Parnell, Johnny Parnell (Mary), Jim Parnell; sisters Vella Morris (Edgar), Ella Stutts (Clay); brother-in-law’s Wilson Woods and Wallace Carpenter.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Gann (Lowell); grandchildren, Hannah Gann, Lowell E. Gann II (Chelsey); four great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Woods and Jean Carpenter; sister-in-law’s Doris Parnell, Nancy Parnell; host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Corinth Fire Dept past and present will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary: Mike Whitehurst, Bill Moore, Tony Parnell, Coffee group at Lloyd’s.
