Celebration of Life services for Elizabeth Sue Rogers, 92, are set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donald Scully officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.
Ms. Rogers stepped into the arms of her loving savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 29, 2016 while surrounded by her loving children.
Ms. Rogers was born December 28, 1923 to the late James Richmond Patterson and Eva Keenum Patterson. She was known by many as Maw Suzie, Granny Sue, Mama Sue or Suzie, but her greatest was being momma to seven children. She attended Grace Bible Baptist Church where she was a member for 50 plus years. She was a hard worker all of her life until failing health prevented it. She was a colon cancer survivor and in May 2010 her family almost lost her, but God told her He was not ready for her. She denied doctors time and time again. She loved cooking, sewing, talking to friends but her biggest love was reading her Bible daily.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Autry (Dock) Rogers whom she married December 6, 1940 and preceded her in death on April 15, 1988. Also preceding her in death were her parents, grandchildren: Andy and Tiffany Rogers, great-grandchildren; Ethan Rogers and Emily Rae LaRiviere, her siblings; Pauline (Rosco) Strickland, Hester (John) Rickman, Eva (Kelse) Follin, Irene (Hester) Tenneson and sister-in-law; Lillie Patterson.
Left to carry on her precious memory are her daughters; Patricia (J.D.) Smith, Lynette Crow, Joyce Crow, Shelia (Kenneth) McMahan, Deborah (Don) Tannery; Sons; Larry Rogers and Rickey (Kay) Rogers, Grandchildren; Johnny Smith, Donna (Darrell) LaRiviere, Kim Rogers, Wesley Rogers, Pam (David) Robbins, Tina Crow Suitor (Craig Settlemires), Karen (Mackey) Childs, Angela (Terry) Hudson, James (Angie) Crow, Paige (Shane) Teague, Brooke (Trent) Maness, Rodney (Heidi) Rogers, Tasha (Scott) Horton, Robert (Erica) Rogers, Tabatha (Phillip) Austin, Trina (Josh) Thomas; 29 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother; James Patterson, sister; Doris Dalton
Ms. Rogers was loved by her extended family, Chuck and Sarah Ferrell, Pat and Travis Nelson and Clyster Watkins.
Pallbearers will be James Crow, Terry Hudson, David Robbins, Brandon Robbins, Robert Rogers, Rodney Rogers, Mackey Childs and Johnny Smith.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Gideon’s or Grace Bible Baptist Church.
