Donald Ray Jobe was born on July 29, 1938, in Corinth, MS and passed from this life at the Baptist Memorial Hospital, in Memphis, TN, on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Katie Mae Jobe, and by his brother, Jimmy Jobe. Don graduated from Corinth High School in 1956 and was a member of the 1956 State Championship baseball team. He attended the University of Mississippi on a four-year baseball scholarship and was a member of the 1959 SEC team. Don worked 35 years at ITT and 14 years at Cortelco where he was a Manager of Operations. He attended Gaines Chapel Methodist Church.
Don is survived by two sons; Dr. Brent Jobe of Corinth, MS. and Brad Jobe (Vonda) of Ramer, TN.; four grandchildren, Brendan Jobe of Corinth, MS, and Madison Jobe, Ian Jobe, and Halle Jobe of Ramer, TN.; one sister, Ouida Jobe Phillips (Tom) of Charlotte, NC.; the mother of his children, Patsy Jobe of Corinth, MS.; two nieces; one nephew, special friend, Joyce Crowe of Corinth, Ms.; and countless friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 5-8 P.M. at McPeters Funeral Directors. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., at McPeters Funeral Directors, in Corinth, MS. with G.W. Childs and Charles Curtis officiating. Burial Will be at Henry Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Hopper, Pat Hodum, Curtis Potts, Johnny Purvis, Scott Sitton, and Mike Hopkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Farris, Carol Sharp, Walt Duffy, Class of 1955 CHS Football, and 1956 CHS Baseball, and the Elite Club
