A Celebration of Life for Carolyn Waldon is set for 2:00 P.M. Monday at Tishomingo Chapel Baptist Church, Kossuth, MS, with Bro. Bruce Ingram officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
After a very long illness, Carolyn went to her heavenly home to be with Jesus and friends and family already there, on January 16, 2015. She was at her residence, surrounded by family and friends. She was born February 5, 1940, in Memphis, TN, to the late Jim and Mildred Lucille Wilson. She grew up in Memphis until she met and married the love of her life, Robert Waldon, and later they and their children made their home in Corinth, MS.
Carolyn previously worked at Garon, National Bank of Commerce and ITT. She took an early retirement so she could stay at home to help take care of her grandchildren and other children. She loved this job more than any of the others and was a blessing to all who was involved.
She was a very faithful member of Tishomingo Chapel Baptist Church, and loved being a part of the Ladies Prayer Group, Sunshiner’s Group and Women’s Sunday School Class. Carolyn also loved singing in the choir and was a joy to watch her sing unto the Lord with all her heart.
Carolyn enjoyed “The Simple Life”. It brought her so much pleasure to be able to cook meals for her husband and family, plant flowers, be outdoors, walk, travel, read scripture, paint, and work puzzle books. She also loved going to see her grandchildren participate in their school activities. Carolyn was such an encourager. She spent a lot of time, sending get-well cards and letters to everyone she knew to help them through difficult times or to just simply put a bright spot in their day.
Being a cancer survivor for five years, Carolyn participated in many “Relay for Life” activities.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Stephen Craig Talley, parents, sisters Dolly Kirby, Elsie Coffer, brothers Jim Wilson, Charles Wilson.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband of 54 years Robert Waldon, sons Michael (Susan) Waldon, Terry (Tammy) Waldon, daughters Sandra (Aaron) Rogers, Tina (Lonnie) McKee, sister Imogene Foust, grandchildren Sarah and Emily Waldon, Mallorie and Tatton Waldon, Hagen Talley, Blake and Josh Rogers, Kasey and Laura Jane McKee, Brandon Mercer, great grandchildren Blakely Rogers, Daphne Mercer. Host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Hagen Talley, Blake Rogers, Josh Rogers, Brandon Mercer, John Paul Waldon, and John Andrew Waldon.
Family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 at Memorial Funeral Home and Monday from 1:00 until service time at the church.
