Billy Brawner

Mr. Brawner died June 13, 2011 at Dogwood Plantation. He was born March 14, 1920 in Alcorn Co. to the late John Sidney and Elizabeth Brawner. He served 4 years in the Tenth Air Force as a sergeant with 3 years in India. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and director in the Farm Bureau for 40 Years. Worked for Weavers Pants Factory from 1952 to 1960, operated a grade A Dairy before been elected Supervisor of the 3rd district having served from 1975 to 1987.

Was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hilda Sherard Brawner; Daughter Carolyn Wilkinson; four brothers Clyde, Earnest, Curtis and Robert Brawner; sisters and brother-in-laws, Irene and Noel Johnson, Annie and Roscoe Dick, Ruby and J.W. Morton, Allie and James Carpenter, Jenny and H.F. Brewster and Brother-in-law Walker Reed Sweeny.

Survivors include his daughter Brenda Edwards her husband David of Corinth, MS; grandchildren Brain Edwards and wife Donna, Brad Edwards and wife Tefinie of Corinth, MS, Robin Johnson and husband Brain of Burnsville, MS, and Ben Wilkinson of Jackson, TN; great grandchildren Bethany, Allie and Billy Johnson, Emma, Sarah, Hannah and Hallie Edwards. Sister Marie Sweeney of Jumpertown, MS; Son-in-law Jimbo Wilkinson his wife Debra and their daughter Amy Wilkinson; Sister-in-laws Bit Brawner and Mattie Brawner.

Pallbearers Tony Morton, Bobby Sweeney Johnny Sweeney Lee Mincey, Bobby Brawner, Kenneth Brawner, Dr. Hardwick Kay, Max Brawner, Dan Carpenter, Jimmy Carpenter.
