Steve is survived by his wife Jeanine Mielke; his two daughters Heather Mielke and Cara Stan; and his two brothers Eric and Mark Mielke. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Carol Mielke and many other pancreatic cancer warriors with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.
Steve was born on February 1, 1955 in Hicksville, OH to Paul and Carol Mielke. He is an alumnus of the University of Central Florida (UCF) where he was a brother of the Eta Pi chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity. At UCF he met the love of his life, Jeanine, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage, two daughters and two granddaughters.
Steve was a cyclist at heart, riding nearly 100 miles a week during chemotherapy treatment. Even after a life-threating accident he maintained an athletic spirit and took his love of riding indoors to the gym. He loved his girls, family, travel, NASCAR, Jimmy Buffett, good food, and, occasionally, the Miami Dolphins. He was passionate about his Catholic faith and a member of the men’s ministry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Coral Springs, FL.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, March 7 at 7:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March, 8 at 11:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The mass will be live streamed and can be viewed on stelizabethannseton.org. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seena Magowitz Foundation for pancreatic cancer research. www.seenamagowitzfoundation.org/SteveMielke.
