Linda is survived by her husband, Kelvin; and daughter Nalini; siblings, Harry, Tita, Krishna, Elaine, Kamla, Jaiharry, Satnarine, Pooran, Rajendra, Tensing, Marilyn and Suzie. She is preceded in death by Gunpat and Jaisiree.
Linda was born on Dec 6th 1941 in Trinidad to Ramlakhan and Phoolasarie Suckrit. She graduated from University of Manitoba in 1970 with a degree in Geography and Geology. She married Kelvin, whom she met while working in the courthouse in 1964 and got married on Dec 27th 1971. They enjoyed fifty years together. During those years, they moved from Trinidad to Montreal where they welcomed with joy their daughter, Nalini. During this time, Linda embraced life there with multiple road trips and camping trips to Mont Tremblant with family and friends. Linda loved exploring her Canadian home with trips to neighbouring provinces and cities in the Maritime. Not being able to resist the call home, Linda and her family enjoyed a few years in Trinidad surrounded by family, friends and forged many memories. Upon moving to Florida, Linda began working for Keyes Realty, and pioneered a space for herself as a real estate agent. Over time, Linda adamantly proved herself against naysayers, and became one of the most celebrated Realtors known for her outgoing, personable and hands on work ethic. Her daughter remembers her as a loving, inspiring, understanding, patient, kind, welcoming, generous mother who encouraged her to pursue her goals, and was a supportive parent and confidante throughout the years.
Linda was an avid nature and health enthusiast. Daily, she could be seen enjoying walks in Cypress Park as well as her neighbourhood, which she followed with her favourite juicing as part of her natural healthy lifestyle. She was also a passionate communicator to all ages, old and young, often encouraging everyone to gather together in good spirits. She was a deeply spiritual person who enjoyed expressing her spirituality in all forms, be it satsangs at home, attending temple or as a member of the Blue Star Yoga Ashram in Trinidad.
Linda was fondly remembered by her extended family and friends, as being the first one to celebrate special occasions and recognitions, being the cheerleader for every single member with a unique ability to make each person feel special. Linda was a mother not just to her daughter, but by extension the entire circle of family and friends, lending support, love and acceptance, providing a home away from home to all. Linda loved all things family and friends, flourishing the most during times of togetherness, creating memories and laughter. She was always happy to be around her siblings, most especially when her sisters would reunite. Linda very much loved being photographed in nature, often stopping to smell the roses or whatever beautiful flora presented itself, and posing with them. She was very much a fashion guru, embodying grace and poise in her various photographs either by herself or with her family. She loved music, often reminiscing with loved ones and singing in joyful abandon.
A traditional Hindu funeral is scheduled for Monday, July 11th, 3pm to 7pm at Kraeer Funeral Home. Pundit Mahendra will officiate the ceremony following the viewing at 3pm. In keeping with Linda’s wishes, the ceremony will be privately attended by loved ones. In lieu of flowers, as Linda was passionate about nature, please send donations to Friends of the Everglades at this link https://www.everglades.org/donate/ .
