Kathy was born in Bloomfield, NJ on May 26, 1961 to John and Patricia Kearney. The family relocated to South florida in 1971, where Kathy attended Lauderdale Lakes Middle School, and then Boyd H. Anderson High School.
After graduation in 1979, Kathy began her career with Bell South Telecommunication and then AT&T. She worked in different capacities and finally as a digital technician in the South Florida Company Initiated Activity Center (SFL-CIAC). She was very active with the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Local 3104 - as an involved member and union steward.
Kathy retired after more than 37 years of dedicated service, and remained close to many of her former co-workers. She had a large circle of friends - from the neighborhood and school, various lodges that she belonged to and local pubs. Over the years she took many solo road trips to visit friends and family - from NJ down to Key West - Super Bowl parties and Fantasy Fest being favorite events. She loved celebrating her Irish heritage - never missed a St. Patrick's Day party or parade - always decked out in crazy costumes - green shamrocks and leprechauns!
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents - Jack (2010) and Pat (2023) Kearney.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Kahle (Mike) of Coral Springs, FL, brother Jack Kearney (Kelly-deceased 2020) of Keyport, NJ, and sister Tricia Kearney of Tamarac, FL. Kathy leaves behind her adored nephew Matthew Kahle and his wife Briana, and their son Jack, and cherished niece Erin Jacobs and her husband Jake. Also mourning her loss are many aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.
As per her wishes, Kathy will be cremated, and her ashes blessed and scattered. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please share your good memories and fun stories of Kathy with each other over a meal ora drink. And raise a glass of green beer to toast her on St. Patrick's Day.
