James is survived by his wife, Frances Martellaro: children, Christine Sposa & Joseph Martellaro, of Florida. James is preceded in death by Mary & Joseph Martellaro, his parents and his siblings, Josephine Zadubera, Peter Martellaro & Marie Condy from New York.
James was born on June 19th, 1938 in New York City, NY to Joseph & Mary Martellaro. He attended school in New York City and later attended SUNY Farmingdale College also in NY. James married Frances Varady, the love of his life in 1959. For most of his adult life he was employed by the New York Telephone Company in varying positions. Soon after marrying,the couple welcomed their 2 children, Christine, in 1960 & Joseph in 1963. James set about teaching them to put their family first, live their life the right way, to strive for the best and to persevere through difficult times. His children remember him as a {kind,driven, intelligent, charismatic, fun loving, wise man who encouraged them to pursue their goals. James retired at the early age of 50 and relocated to Florida in 1990.
James was accomplished at a multitude of things ranging from technology, to sports & politics just to name a few and often advice giving. He was a generous/witty/dedicated individual who loved family, learning & life and who was passionate about educating himself and others..
A visitation is scheduled on October 11 at 3:30 PM-7:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1655 N University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071 954-753-8960. The Catholic Wake Vigil will be held at 6:00PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate James’s life. The family would like to thank Boca Regional Hospital ICU & staff} for their exceptional efforts & care.
