Dear Marion and Family --so sorry to find out today that Jim has passed. We had many wonderful, wonderful times with you, you made a great couple. Your Husband was kind, warm, loving, and quite witty---once again you have prayers and love from How and I.

Marion,  just heard about Jim last night. He will be missed especially at the pool  with his radio.  He was ALWAYS fun to be with. His smile will always remembered.

Dear Marion & Family, 

We'll miss seeing Jim at the pool with his little radio playing the fine oldies. He was a great guy with a good sense of humor & will be missed by many of us here at Faircrest 14.

Last night, I remembered a lesson taught to me by my grandfather. In short, minimalism will lead you to a lot of things you never thought about. What you once accepted as the norm, you will now question the how and why of. Where you invest your time, energy and money are decisions you will start placing much more thought into. 

Gramps was my wine and cheese buddy. When his glass of vino was empty and someone would try to remove it, he'd say, "No no. I'm not finished yet." He'd then tap his glass on the table and retrieve a few more drops. We'd laugh and watch him do this repeatedly. Each time, even if it was only a mere drop, his face would light up and he'd say, "See, I wasn't finished." 

My grandfather had blastomycosis in 1961. He flat-lined while undergoing 16 hours of surgery and was gone for a bit. He saw the light and was greeted by a man that wanted to bring him somewhere beautiful. My grandpa told the man he wasn't finished yet. After the removal of more than half his lungs he was told that he had 6 months to live. I'm no mathematical genius, but the stretch between 1961 and 2015 is just a bit longer than six months. You see, the glass of vino of my dear grandpa's life was thought to be empty in 1961-1962. Well, he "wasn't finished yet." 

Gramps continued to live, working hard. In 1998, he met his soulmate and shared 17 amazing years with her traveling the world. I'd never seen him so happy. He didn't have to cross any social media avenues. He wasn't connected to a cellphone 24/7. He wasn't glued to the TV. He took the time to enjoy every "little" thing that most of us walk right by. If he didn't persevere and continue to tap his glass, he would've never experienced any of this. This teaches us that no matter how trying life can get. No matter what anybody tells you, you continue to be strong. Take time to smell the roses. Open your heart to kindness and love. When you love, love wholeheartedly. Help one another. Put down your phones and visit a friend. Tell your parents you love them. Conversate. Be good and just and NEVER ever think that your glass is empty. (Tap, tap.)

Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
We're thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,
How much you meant and will always mean to us.

I love and miss you with all my heart. I'll do my best to remember your wishes and celebrate your life rather than mourne your passing. 

Also, even though this granddaughter is a night owl, I'll do my best to remember the words you spoke to Mikey and I while opening the blinds to let the sunlight hit our faces at the crack of dawn. "Early to bed and early to rise, make a young man and woman healthy, wealthy and wise."  What I wouldn't give to share some dingbat oatmeal or salsa and eggs with you. I miss you so.
