James Albert Gatto, “Jimmy Ace” to his poker pals and always “Jimmy Boy” to his family, died peacefully at his home in Tamarac, FL on December 7, 2020. He was preceded in death by relatives and his parents, Vincent P. Gatto and Rose (Fashana) Gatto of Syracuse, NY.
James was born on December 28, 1941 in Syracuse, NY. He graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1960, and attended Rochester Institute of Technology for a short time. It was shortly after that when he met his future wife of 53 years, Carol. They were married on September 2, 1967, and were blessed with two sons, Vincent R. Gatto and Jason J. Gatto. Jimmy is also survived by; Vivian Gatto, Gigi (Gatto) Love and Rose (Gatto) Bryant. was a loving husband, father and brother, who cherished his family above all else.
James and his family moved to Florida in 1982, where he worked for Coca-Cola. He then found a job with Seminole Hollywood Casino, where he opened the new poker room and helped training and staffing of dealers. Later he transferred to the Coconut Creek Casino in Coral Springs, where he stayed for 26 years until retiring in 2016.
James was loved by all who knew him. He was fun loving and had a great sense of humor. He was a genuine person who lived life his way. Through the years, he enjoyed bowling, poker, and golf.
After moving to Florida, James and his family discovered cruising. Besides other vacations, one cruise each year became a tradition for James and Carol.
One of James’ greatest blessings arrived on September 25, 2005: his grandson, James Gatto.
A Celebration of Life gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 1pm to 5pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, Coral Springs with a memorial service starting at 4pm. A Facebook live Stream will be offer 10 mins before the 4pm service on our Facebook page @KraeerCoralSprings.
