Today we lost our beloved mother, Florence Beatrice (Bea) Sendlbeck Fialk. Bea passed away after a prolonged illness, surrounded by her five children and grandchildren in Margate, Florida where she resided for 45 years. Bea devoted her professional life to nursing and caring for others as a CVICU nurse. She was a charge nurse, preceptor/mentor and secretary of the Broward Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses until the age of 79.
Beatrice was born in Paris, France and spent the first 13 years of her life in Europe. She moved to New York City with her mother, Dr. Elise Sendlbeck, where she eventually went to nursing school at St. Vincent’s in Manhattan, carrying on the proud medical tradition of her mother, grandfather and great uncles.
Bea married Richard Fialk (dec.) in 1957. She is survived by her five children; Barbara Fialk and son Christian Sadar, Deborah Fialk and Mike Tripp, Theresa Nadassy, her husband Ken and daughter Alison Beatrice, Richard Fialk, his wife Paula and sons Wesley and Brady, and JoAnne Oncea and her husband Bill.
Bea’s life was enriched by the many friends she loved and cherished and who became part of her extended family. She loved cooking for friends and family, traveling, attending concerts, the theater, movies and museums. Mom’s love and appreciation for every single day is something we all strive to emulate.
