He was born on August 9, 1944 to Lee and Hazel Griffin. After high school Wayne joined the United States Army where he faithfully served our country for 21 years before retiring as Master Sergeant. After retirement he continued his education earning an associate’s degree and learning everything he can about carpentry, masonry and electricity. He then put those skills to work- He worked alongside his loving wife building an addition onto the home doing 95% of the work himself.
Wayne enjoyed attending the great grandkids many activities, family gatherings, wood working, windsurfing, camping, fishing, walking his dogs and exploring and finding new trails to walk on.
Wayne was a devoted husband for 40 years before losing the love of his life in 2022. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Baker of Lego Vista, children Pamela Griffin, Ginger Richardson, Sean (Teresa) Sampson, Barbara (Lyn) Simpson, Sandy (Larry) Carroll, Terese (Andrew) Tye: 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Minerva “Sal” Griffin, parents Lee and Hazel Griffin, brothers Bud D. Griffin, Dale E. Griffin, Sister Wanda Griffin, granddaughter Stephanie Marie Greene and grandson Erik Sampson.
A Memorial Service for Wayne will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11am at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
