Born in Park Rapids, Minnesota in 1945, Orville's work ethic and desire to serve others began at a young age. Growing up in a family of 9 kids, he could often be found milking cows and dreaming of the open road. Once he graduated high school in 1963, he enlisted in the Army, and moved to Central Texas. He eventually began serving the people of Copperas Cove as City Councilman and at Shine Brothers Goodyear where he worked hard for over 25 years. Orville became known throughout the community for his honesty and unparalleled skill in his trade. In 1996, he married his wife, Deborah. He later became the owner of Gatesville Tire, where he worked diligently for 15 years. After retiring, Orville enjoyed spending time with his family, restoring classic cars, adopting stray dogs, and refinishing furniture.
Orville leaves behind a legacy that will continue to resonate for years to come. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit lives on in the restored cars that now roam the streets, in the hearts of those he touched, and in the countless memories we shared together.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Deborah, his daughters, Michelle and Tiffany, and stepsons, Forrest and Lance (Sharon), 4 grandchildren, 5 siblings, many friends, and a community forever grateful for his presence.
Orville will be laid to rest at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or St.Jude's.
