Please join our family in honoring the memory and celebrating the life of Nicholas Hunter Evans.
Nick was the only son of Mary Elizabeth and William Timothy Evans born June 23, 1996 in Bedford, Texas. On May 15, 2023 his life was cut short by a tragic event. Nick is deeply loved by many who now mourn his passing with great sorrow, for our loss, but serenity in knowing he is in a far better place now.
Nick grew up in Hurst, TX and attended Shady Oaks Elementary, Bedford Junior High and L.D. Bell High School. He later lived in Keller, TX, Aurora, CO, Frisco, TX and lastly, Kempner, TX.
As a little guy, Nick loved swimming, building things, marble mazes, playing soccer, Connect-4 and Chess. There were also many hours spent lapping his Playskool Little Tikes Cozy Coupe Car around the pool deck. He grew into a kind, caring and loving soul that carried a deep loyalty to his family and friends. He had a wicked sense of humor that kept us full of laughter. Nick felt his emotions intensely but in many ways kept them close. In honesty, Nick struggled with depression and anxiety but fought a heroic battle almost every day that would have taken most people out. He was brave and persistent. There was never a time he did not have the support of his loved ones throughout his life and he was so grateful and humbled by it. In turn, Nick was certainly good at paying it forward. His family saw it, but Nick never gave himself enough credit for all the kindness and help he showed others. He took on the pain of others many times over.
Nick’s greatest loves were his mother, father and two Siberian Huskies named Kita and Kodak. Travel, cars, boating, fishing and especially motorcycles, computers and gaming were his primary interests as an adult. Unfortunately, in June of 2020, Nick suffered a devastating motorcycle crash that resulted in months of bravely enduring a painful recovery in hospital and home. Recover, he did, but it ended his days of motorcycle riding for which his mother was extremely grateful! Nick’s travels took him to many places coast-to-coast and Europe. He was looking forward to further explorations across the ocean, especially to visit family in Dubai and Germany.
An intelligent, logical and quick-thinker, he was a self-taught computer guru. At the time of his death, he had developed a his own e-commerce server site and was considering a formal education in cyber-security. Nick was also an exceptional and well-respected gamer and had many treasured online friendships around the world that he cultivated over many years.
Nick was a very focused individual and pursued his dreams with passion and perseverance. Once he latched onto an interest, there was no stopping him - He made things happen. Nick had big goals and was not finished yet.
I will end this with some words from an old John Denver song that Nick loved which now have a deeper connection to him in death. Rest now in peace our dear Nicholas. You will be forever loved and never forgotten. You have moved on ahead of us to a happier place.
“He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Coming home to a place he'd never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door
When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hanging by a song
But the string's already broken and he doesn't really care
It keeps changing fast and it don't last for long
But the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullaby
Rocky Mountain high (Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept the memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
Talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)…”
