Manuel “Manny” Mejias, age 53, of Kempner passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his home.Manny was born May 4, 1956 in Wiesbaden, Germany to Juan and Mary Mejias. He served in the United States Army from 1975 until his retirement in 1995. Manny traveled all over the World throughout his career. He loved the military so much and found his place even after serving his country, as an aircraft mechanic in the private sector as a military contractor.Manny was preceded in death by his parents, mother in-law Alanna Jane Cordrey, Mark Cordrey and Marilyn K. Nelson.He is survived by the love of his life, Alanna Mejias of Kempner; four sons, Christopher Mejias, Mark Mejias and his wife Sandra and two grandchildren, Ethan Manuel and Kylin Raye, Nicholas Mejias and Juan Mejias all of Texas. He is also survived by the following family John and Bennie Mejias, Daniel and Betty Mejias, Raymond and Theresa Mejias and Michael Mejias, Deborah Block and Gloria and Graham Johnson, Patti Mejias and Elizabeth and Sheldon Evans. Ivan L. Cordrey, Cynthia A. Cordrey, Nancilee and Jamie Salisbury, Monica DeNault, Joan Cordrey and Kelvin May. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.He is also survived by his non-human companions Molly, Otto and George. Manny was humorous, unselfish, loving and hard working. He had a love of music and enjoyed playing music with his family and friends. He unselfishly gave his time talents and skills to all that needed it or asked. He loved swimming, playing horse shoes, golfing and riding on his motorcycle. Manny could build or create anything, he was constantly working at home on many different projects. The Mejias family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Interment services will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. He was loved by everyone who knew him, he will be greatly missed. A special thank you to Marla from Heritage Hospice Care for all the love and attention that she has provided. The family would also like to thank the countless friends who have shown there support and given us there love through this difficult time.
