battle with his health. He is survived by his wife; Peggy Franklin, his son; Mark Wilson, daughter; Kristie Destin, two sisters; Clarice Barefield and June Cunningham. He also has four granddaughters; Briana Lott, Nicole Wilson, Brandy Wilson, Christin Wilson and one grandson; Jaylin Mayfield. He also has four great grandsons. He has two nieces; Pamela Stillwell and Sharon Clay and one nephew; Dennis Franklin Jr. and several great nieces and nephews.
James served his country in the US Army for 21 years, retiring as a master sergeant in 1981.
He then went to work on Fort Hood for several organizations within the Civil Service community for the next 21 years retiring in 2002. He received several awards and was proud of all of them, especially the Bronze Star.
He then spent most of his time working his horses and teaching his grandkids to ride and care for horses. He was a member of Copperas Cove Saddle Club and the American Association of Sheriff Posses and Riding Clubs, which he and his grandkids participated in.
James was preceded in death by his mother; Odellia Cunningham, father; Lee O Franklin and brother; Dennis W Franklin.
A time of Visitation for James will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers followed by the Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 PM. James will be laid to rest at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery where he will receive Military Honors on November 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
