I struggle with the words to say just how much you're missed already.  I am blessed with so many wonderful memories from the waffles we had Christmas morning with a lit candle celebrating Jesus' birthday, spilling fingernail polish remover on grandma's wood floor and covering it with the rug hoping no one would see it, our road trip to Texas (before you moved there) to see the Dallas Cowboys new training facility, to consoling each other during Grandma and Uncle Gene's passing. The list goes on and on.  You are a true light to anyone who had the privilege to know you.  I know I am a better person having you as a cousin.  You're in good company and I'm sure having a blast up there.  I love you so much and I take comfort in knowing that when it's my time to stand at those pearly gates, you'll be right there waiting saying "I got you"!  Til then my dear......

Emily and I became friends, through a mutual friend in NC.  Although, both teachers, this is not what brought us together.  I am honestly and deeply saddened by this.  After both of us relocated we remained in contact, mostly via FB. I remember when she told me she was relocating to TX to teach.  I was like 'what...I know you're a Cowboys' fan,' but why TX.  For Emily, it was a fresh start.  She was super excited, and was so very happy with her new school and her co-workers.  Emily was a sweet and kind gal. She was always willing to help others, and gave of herself over and over again. Emily loved teaching, often she would be found in a social gathering, cutting out laminating/making center activities, etc. For all that knew her, you were truly blessed.  To Emily's family - your Emily was well liked, dearly loved, and very much respected as a friend, co-worker, and teacher.  She will be so very deeply missed. XO JoAnn Torres

You, Emily, were always a beacon of light no matter what was going on. I have many fond memories of you; but some of the best are the way that you never met a stranger. You loved people that you didn’t even know. The last time we were together a complete stranger just walked up to you and stated that he was enamored by your bubbly personality and that you brightened his day by your radiating positivity. Your reply was simply “Well Thank you, Thank you!!” and of course with the most grand smile. You always radiated positivity and filled every space you entered with love. Thank you for always being you. 💜

Emily always had a smile on her face. She was so bubbly. As a fellow teacher friend Emily was always for the students. ‘I Got Cha!’ Is mostly what I remember her most for saying .I hate I didn’t know of her recent illness. I, too, taught with Emily at Baldwin Elementary in Hope Mills, NC. While Emily’s love of children was unsurpassed, the connection she made with my 80+ year old mother who often volunteered at school is my fondest memory. Emily always went out of her way to find Mom and give her a hug. They would talk about teeth and cancer! What a connection but I will be forever grateful for the compassion she shared with Mom. I am confident they are hugging and chatting and swapping favorite kindergarten kid stories. She will be missed by all who knew and couldnt help but love her. 

I worked with Emily for many years at Baldwin Elem.  I was deeply saddened to learn of her death. Emily was all about her students. She knew them and their parents and the siblings by sight by the end of the first week of school. Her love of the young learner was evident in what went on in her classroom. She took them under her wing and cared for them as well as taught them both life and academic skills. I was so excited for her when she took the position in Texas. And how brave of her to set off miles from home.  I can close my eyes and see her sashaying down the hall yelling, "I gotcha Ms. D! I gotcha!" She always had someone foremost in her mind. My heart goes out to her family who we all know she loved deeply and her youngest of students as they come to understand that Miss Perry is still watching them. My sympathies, Emilie Davenport
