Carmen Nereyda Aponte, 76, of Copperas Cove, TX, went to her heavenly home on July 12, 2023. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and a devoted woman of God. Her grandchildren loved her and named her Ita, which is short for Abuelita.
Ita was one of the strongest women ever to walk this earth, and we are blessed to have had her as the head of the family. She was born in Florida, Puerto Rico, and she eventually moved to the States and graduated from James Monroe High School in the Bronx, NY. After graduating, she went on to marry and have two children.
Ita was a wonderful mother who worked hard to provide for her family. She was the perfect example of the Proverbs 31 woman. Her devotion to God and family led her daily life. She shared the message of God's love with anyone she came across. Each encounter was one more brick she added to her mansion in the sky. She worked hard and was always available for others when needed. Her faithfulness to the word of God showed in every circumstance she came across, giving God the glory for his guidance. Although we will never be able to fill the space left behind by her, we can take joy in knowing she was met at heaven's gates by her daughter Patricia.
Carmen was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Lofton. She is survived by her daughter Beatrice Aponte (Michael) Lloyd, her grandchildren; Joshua (Sarah), Jessica (Sam), Isaac, Mike Jr., Jenelle, Jeunet, and Jamahl, along with nine great-grandchildren.
Per her request, we will not conduct a ceremony. Instead, the family has asked that you honor her life by performing an act of kindness for a neighbor. A tree will be planted at her home church, First Assembly of God of Copperas Cove, alongside her daughter Patricia on earth, as they are in heaven.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.crawfordbowerscopperascove.com for the Aponte family.
