Richard Iven Bleckner, 80, died peacefully January 2, 2016 with his wife Ginger by his side. Richard was born December 15, 1935 in Florida to Rebecca (Betty) Weingarten Bleckner and Henry Bleckner. He attended Texas A&M University on a baseball scholarship, and it was there that Richard met and married his wife Barbara Curry Bleckner and started a family. After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology, he moved his family back to the Miami area to teach school. He then went on to take a job in sales which brought him back to Texas once again and realized his true vocation as a salesman, first in the seafood business and ultimately in the spice business where he founded a successful spice and industrial foods brokerage firm in Farmers Branch. Richard eventually retired in Florida where he enjoyed life playing golf, fishing and traveling until a shoulder injury brought him again to Texas to be near his children. It was here in Lewisville that he met and married his current wife Ginger, who lovingly cared for him through his remaining days. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard Henry, his aunt Heloise and his brother Ralph. He leaves behind his beloved wife Ginger Bleckner, his daughter Tracy Bleckner, his son John and his wife Angie Bleckner, his daughter Dina Petry, his grandchildren Alex Petry, Andi Petry, Ashley Petry Rando and her husband Gian Carlo, and his great-grandsons Harrison Petry and Van Rando, his nephews and their families, cousin Dodi Shellow and numerous friends. Richard was also blessed with Ginger’s family in her son Steve Colby and his wife Ann, their daughters Jennifer and Christina with her husband Alex and son Noah. Services will be held at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell, Tx at 2:00pm Saturday January 9th.
