Liji Joseph was born in Ponkunnam, India, on June 20, 1973, to Joseph Thyparambil and Thankamma Joseph. She was baptized at Holy Family Church in Ponkunnam and given the baptismal name of Elizabeth. She grew up in Madhya Pradesh with two younger brothers, Liju Joseph and Jacob T Joseph. She graduated BSC Nursing in 1995. She married Jiju Devassy Chembakassery on March 30, 2000. On May 28, 2001, she gave birth to their first daughter, Ann Tresa Jitcho. On January 16, 2005, she gave birth to their second daughter Ellen Tresa Jitcho.
Liji worked in hospitals in India, Oman, New York, and Dallas during her 27-year career as a registered nurse. She was diagnosed with cancer of the ovaries on August 3, 2018. During her treatment, she was given the gift of two goddaughters, Cecilia Jane Devasia, and Nina Grace Elengical. She lived 4 years after her diagnosis undergoing chemotherapy all while being a dedicated nurse, a loving wife, and a mother, daughter, sister, and friend to all. On September 8, 2022, at 11:49 PM, she passed away in Dallas, TX.
