Leslie was born in Phoenix, Arizona on September 8, 1961. Her family lived there for another eight years before they moved to Dallas, Texas. Two years later, when Leslie was 10, the Bennetts moved to Austin, Texas. Leslie graduated from Anderson High School in 1979 and The University of Texas at Austin in 1983. She was a relentless Longhorn fan, following both men's and women's teams.
After graduation, Leslie had a successful career in the software industry. She lived in Princeton, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, Seattle, WA and attended annual SAP conferences. She was an advocate for public education and eventually moved back to Austin and joined the Texas Education Agency.
Leslie was the ultimate caregiver, always putting others first. She spent 25 years as the primary caregiver first for her father and then her mother. She was very active in her nephew Jack's life, spending countless hours traveling from Austin to Dallas to spend the week with him or to see his baseball and basketball games.
Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Solon Bennett, and mother, Loretta Bennett. She is survived by her brother Chris Bennett and his wife Lisa, her brother Stephen and his wife Michelle, her nephew Jack, numerous cousins, close friends and many others in Austin and Dallas whose lives her warm spirit touched.
The family would like to thank Sunrise Frisco, Extraordinary Homecare, Hospice Plus of McKinney, and Texas Health Plano for Leslie's care in recent months. Arrangements are being handled by Rolling Oaks Funeral Home of Coppell, Texas with a memorial service pending.
