Kirsten Suzanne Goodner Chapman was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend. She left this earth much too early on October 3, 2021, in Lewisville, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 46.
Our family is filled with grief over all the tiniest attributes that made our sister and daughter so cherished. Her love of her family, her students, her travels, her country, her artistry, her energy, her pragmatism, her attention to detail, all the special ways she decorated her home, her love of cats and silly jokes and crazy ideas that were laughable, the hugs that tickled us, and her “Sundowner” libations on the patio with mom and dad watching the sunset.
Her greatest and proudest enjoyment and achievement in life was her two children, Jacob and Madeline, and watching them mature into adulthood. Her intense devotion to motherhood and their travels together were the highlight of her life.
She was a respected educator in the Coppell Independent School District, where she spent several years teaching at Valley Ranch Elementary before transitioning to Coppell Middle School East. She forged lasting relationships and touched the lives of many students and faculty with her dedication and charisma.
None of us will ever get over the unfairness of her early death. There doesn’t seem to be any great philosophical reasoning that can fill our hearts and end our bereavement. Her mother is broken, her father inconsolable, her brothers saddened by the loss of their beloved companion.
Kirsten is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Jacob and Madeline, her mother Marlene, her father David, her brother Derek, his spouse April, their daughter Adrienne, her brother Damon, his spouse Shona, their sons Ethan, Cole and Dean, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home, 400 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, TX 75019.
In accordance with Kirsten’s wishes she will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kirsten’s memory to the charity of your choice.
