John grew up in Waco, Texas, until he graduated from Waco High School in June of 1956. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he met the love of his life, Kaye Ferguson. They were married a short time later in Oklahoma City at Crown Heights Methodist Church on September 10, 1960.
Shortly afterward, the couple moved to Dallas, where John accepted a position with Universal Films, keeping with his love of television and movie trivia. He later entered commercial real estate and spent many years as the Vice President of the Trust department for Bank of America Fort Worth Private Client Services until his retirement in 2015.
Together, John and Kaye had two children. John Jr was born in January 1964 and, later, Jennifer in July 1968. They decided to raise their family in Irving, Texas, and, after nearly 30 years there, moved to their “dream home” in Coppell. After their move, John and Kaye began to attend Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, becoming members in September 2010.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kaye Ferguson McCullough, his son, John McCullough Jr and his wife Vivian McCullough of Arlington Texas, his daughter, Jennifer Alcock and her husband, Todd Alcock of Flower Mound, granddaughter Kathryn McCullough of Dallas, grandson Brett Alcock of Flower Mound, grandson John McCullough III of Arlington, and grandson Garrett Alcock of Flower Mound.
There will be a visitation at 1 PM followed by a memorial service to celebrate John’s life beginning at 2 PM on December 30 at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell, 400 Freeport Parkway, 75019.
