Cindy was an advocate for education, an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboys fan, a dog lover, and an ardent appreciator of quiet moments at home and in the Texas Hill Country.
Born October 28, 1950 in Abilene, Texas to Charles Preston and Billie Louise McClure, she enjoyed a happy childhood in Coleman, Texas.
Cindy embodied the values of hard work and kindness throughout her life. Graduating from Coleman High School in 1969, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas in 1972. There, she was a student tour guide in the Douglas McArthur Academy of Freedom at HPU. There she enjoyed meeting many prospective students and dignitaries such as General William Westmoreland, Mrs. Douglas McArthur, and others during the dedication of the statue of Douglas McArthur in front of Howard Payne's Academy of Freedom
She retired from Verizon where she was a diligent and loyal supervisor. She continued working at Home Depot earning the respect and friendship of many co-workers over a decade. Cindy's last position was with Coppell Independent School District as a school crossing guard where she was beloved by the children and their parents and the community and recognized in 2022 with a Great Employees Matter (GEM) award by the school district.
Born near Halloween, Cindy and her love Linda Yarbrough, spent many years hosting an extravagant annual neighborhood Haunted House in their front lawn...an endeavor through which they collected hundreds of donations for their local food bank.
Cindy was preceded in death by her wife of 27 years, Linda Yarbrough. She is survived by her brother Ronnie McClure and wife Diane of Corpus Christi, Texas; her two stepsons, Kevin Adams of Coppell, Texas, Steven Yarbrough and wife Jessica and son Sosaia, of Bedford, Texas; as well as her niece Micah Coe and husband Jason, great niece Hannah Coe, and great nephew Joshua Coe of Springtown, Texas; and her nephew Matthew McClure, wife Maurene, and great nephew Dylan McClure of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Cindy was cremated at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell, Texas.
