Born and raised in NYC, Carol obtained a BFA from Hunter College, an MFA from Columbia, and worked towards a PhD from University of Maryland.
She studied poetry at SMU with Jack Myers and at Richland Community College and Brookhaven Community College, where she won first prize for all Dallas junior colleges in the League of Innovation competition (1999). Her poetry also recognized and published by the Texas Observer (2002).
A true artist… as an educator, a painter, a poet, and a photographer.
She painted with world reknown painters including Helen Frankenthaler, Motherwell's then wife, and Baziotis, while in NY. A prolific painter with countless works in her own style. Her Canadian sister Joan Murray, a revered art historian with nearly 30 books published, once said “your mother has her own style.”
Her affiliations included the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance, Dallas Bach society, English Speaking Union, Dallas Women’s Forum and countless other organizations.
Above all, Carol loved her family, her art, and her books. Carol is predeceased by Dr. Edgar P. Nace, M.D., her husband of 58 years, and is survived by her sons, Brad and Randy.
Her legacy lives on not only in her family but also in the countless lives she touched throughout her journey of compassion, class, dedication, and grace.
