Billy Keith Ivy of Rhome TX passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017. Born on June 11, 1939, Billy was born and raised in Jackson, MS to the late Carroll Martin Ivy and Laura Mea Ivy. He was a 1957 graduate of Provine High School. After graduation he attended Hinds Jr. College where he received an Associate Degree in Business. While at Hinds he played basketball where he lettered both years. His letterman jacket now hangs at Hinds Community College in honor of their Centennial Celebration that will begin in April of this year. He then went to the University of Southern Mississippi. After leaving, Southern he married the love of his life Margaret Ann West in 1960. He worked at United Gas for a year before he moved his family to Garland, Tx for 15 years. As their family grew, in 1978 he moved his family to Keller, TX. Billy started his career at Texas Instruments in 1962 where he was a Micro Electronics Technician. He dedicated 32 years to TI before retiring in 1994. In 1995, Billy took a job at The University of Arkansas Fayetteville where he was an educator teaching in the Masters and Doctorate Degree program until 2003. Billy returned to Texas after retiring to enjoy his children and grandchildren. He had a sense of humor that kept people laughing and was always supportive of his family. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at Lake Texoma, where the family had a summer home for many years. Lake Texoma and the family summer home was one of his favorite places on earth. Billy is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carolyn McCullough. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Margaret Ann Ivy; son’s Keith Ivy (Kim) of Ponder, TX, Kevin Ivy (Amy) of Rhome, TX, Kyle Ivy of Raymond, MS, and Kirk Ivy (Kathy) of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Keely, Kacy, Keri, Chad, Lindsey, Chris, Logan, Louann and West; great grandchildren Landon, Ella, Tripp and Kale; and his brother Charles Ivy (Joyce) of Memphis, TX. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Boozer of Bolton, MS, Becky DeLorinzo and brother-in-law Tony DeLorinzo of Bay Saint Louis, MS and Beth Emory of Brookhaven, MS; nieces and nephews Buddy, Ivy Lynn, Jackie, David, Chuck, Alan, Cindy, Leslie, Janet, Wilson, Becca, Brian, Brad and Bethany and many extended family.
