Serafin Lopez

Serafín López, de Lindenhurst, L.I., falleció el martes 26 de diciembre a la edad de 87 años. Nació en Lares, Puerto Rico, de sus difuntos padres, Claudio y Angelina López.

Serafín se retiró de las carreras de cocina, agricultura y paisajismo; que también eran sus pasiones. Los llevó a su jubilación. En casa, disfrutaba del tiempo en el patio trasero plantando y cuidando verduras y flores; trabajar en el jardín y simplemente estar en medio de la naturaleza. Su familia diría que era chef de cocina; pero una de sus mayores pasiones eran los coches. Le encantaba admirar diferentes modelos tanto antiguos como nuevos.

Serafín era un hombre muy sencillo y dedicado, y más importante aún, un cristiano devoto. Después de que se le hizo demasiado difícil asistir a los servicios con regularidad, a menudo miraba transmisiones de televisión cristianas, lo que lo inspiró mucho. Encontró mucha paz en los mensajes de nuestro Señor y la música cristiana. Si bien su atención se centraba principalmente en la iglesia, su familia y su amor por la cocina, en tiempos más tranquilos disfrutaba de un poco de descanso y relajación viendo en la televisión, desde películas del viejo oeste hasta dibujos animados de su personaje favorito, Mickey Mouse.

Sobrevive su amada familia: su esposa, Carmen; sus hijos: Nancy Rosado-Ali y su esposo, Nagib, José Rosado, Bárbara Rodríguez, Benjamín López, Gloria López, José López, Samuel López y Alberto López; sus nietos Charlene y su esposo, John, David y su esposa, Teresa, Muhammed y su novia, Arlene; y McKayla; y sus bisnietas Leila y Mila. También le sobreviven sus hermanos Rosa, Maximina, Odilio, Samuel y Irma.

Familiares y amigos se reunirán en la funeraria el viernes 29 de diciembre para recibir visitas de 2:00 a 4:30 y de 7:00 a 9:30 p.m. El funeral será ofrecido por el pastor Miguel Falcone de la Iglesia Cristiana Ebenezer de Copiague a las 3:00 y 8:00 p.m.

Las oraciones de la mañana se ofrecerán a las 10:00 a. m. el sábado 30 de diciembre y partiremos hacia el cementerio a las 10:30 a.m. Los servicios de sepultura junto a la tumba se realizarán aproximadamente a las 11:15 a.m. en Pinelawn Memorial Park en Farmingdale.

Serafin Lopez, of Lindenhurst, L.I., passed on Tuesday, December 26th at the age of 87 years. He was born in Lares, Puerto Rico to his late parents, Claudio and Angelina Lopez.

Serafin was retired from careers in cooking, farming and landscaping; which were also his passions. He carried them into his retirement. At home, he enjoyed time in the backyard planting and tending to vegetables and flowers; doing yardwork and simply being amid nature. His family would say he was a chef in the kitchen; but one of his greatest passions was for cars. He loved admiring different models both old and new.

Serafin was a very simple and dedicated man, more importantly a devout Christian. After it became too difficult to attend services regularly, he often watched Christian television broadcasting which inspired him greatly. He found much peace in our Lord's messages and Christian music. While his focus was mostly on church, his family and his love of cooking, quieter times found him enjoying some rest and relaxation watching television from old western movies to cartoons of his favorite character, Mickey Mouse.

Surviving is his beloved family - his wife, Carmen; his children - Nancy Rosado-Ali and her husband, Nagib, Jose Rosado, Barbara Rodriguez, Benjamin Lopez, Gloria Lopez, Jose Lopez, Samuel Lopez and Alberto Lopez; his grandchildren Charlene and her husband, John, David and his wife, Teresa, Muhammed and his girlfriend, Arlene; and McKayla; and his great-granddaughters Leila and Mila. He is also survived by his siblings Rosa, Maximina, Odilio, Samuel and Irma.

Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday, December 29th for visitation from 2:00 - 4:30 and 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be offered by Pastor Miguel Falcone of the Ebenezer Christian Church of Copiague at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. Morning Prayers will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30th and we depart for the cemetery by 10:30 a.m. Graveside committal services will follow at approximately 11:15 a.m. in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale.
