Bob was born to Ernest and Lillian Morelli along with his older brother Ernest Howard. He grew up primarily in Elmhurst NY, and along the waterfront in Copiague where the family eventually came to live full-time.
He worked for more than twenty-one years at Republic-Fairchild Aviation. He was a devoted long-time member of the congregation at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. After retiring from Republic he worked for many years at the church as a caretaker, gardener, and handyman.
Everyone in town knew Bob Morelli. His big smile and wave were characteristic for him, and you couldn’t go anywhere close by where he was not greeted as a friend.
Bob was one of the most gentle people you could ever meet. He was always considerate, and would do things like get ready for work in the dark to avoid waking anyone. He would take the smallest piece of everything to make sure there was always enough for everyone else. And he had patience no matter what came along.
Bob loved his gardens and was proud of being featured in Newsday a few times for his gardens at home. He truly loved horse racing, and regularly would have more excitement with a two dollar bet than you could imagine. He loved boating, fishing, dancing and laughing, and most of all if this was done with the family and children. And the Yankees! We will miss him greatly.
