James “Sonny” Anthony Denier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, hardworking individual, and a beacon of humor within his family and community, peacefully passed away on November 26, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 94 years old.

Born on June 1, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, Sonny was a man of unwavering kindness, integrity, and dedication. He led a life filled with love, warmth, and an unyielding commitment to his family, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Sonny shared 68 years of a blissful marriage with his devoted wife, Diane Elizabeth Phoenix Denier. Their union was a testament to love's enduring strength, serving as an inspiration to many. Their bond exemplified the true meaning of partnership, weathering life's joys and challenges with steadfast devotion and unwavering support.

A loving and cherished father, Sonny leaves behind a legacy of adoring children: Jim and Melissa Denier, Mike Denier, Curly and Tracey Denier, and Christine and Jerry Schaefer. He imparted invaluable wisdom, instilling in each of them the importance of family, hard work, and compassion.

Sonny's strong work ethic was matched only by his sense of humor. His laughter was contagious, bringing joy to every room he entered. His ability to find humor in life's moments, coupled with his dedication to hard work, served as an inspiration to his family and all who knew him.

He was a doting grandfather (or Bump) to Justin Barr, Kyle Barr, Brittney Denier Cantrell, John Schaefer, Corey Denier, Ryan Schaefer, Katie Schaefer, Nathan Denier, and Andrew Denier. Sonny's quick wit and sense of humor endeared him to his grandchildren, creating countless cherished memories.He was also a great-grandfather to Landon Barr and Carly Barr, further extending his legacy of love and warmth to the youngest generation of his family.

Sonny's dedication extended beyond his family, as he was an integral part of his community. In addition to his dedication to family and friends, Sonny served in the army during the Korean War. His genuine smile, compassionate nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand touched the lives of many. He was a beacon of light, spreading joy and kindness wherever he went.
